so over it...

My lack of communication has not been in vain. I wish I could say I was off to an exotic holiday somewhere on a private island, but alas I was not. I was merely securing my future, and by securing my future I mean doing my best to guarantee top marks in my end of year finals. It was not easy. I probably could have been a bit more consistent with studying, and reading throughout the semester. But here it is, the end of the school year looms overhead, so what's a girl to do? Cram, and cram hard! Either way they are finally over. It probably didn't help that I squeezed in a whiskey tasting, late night happy hours, mid study session drinks during this so called "study week". Studying about a declining economy can really drive a gal to drink! Luckily I documented most outings and will be posting many of them shortly.

The only studying to be done this summer is Vogue, Harper's, and Glamour, poolside, with a margarita-of course!

i wanna be a supermodel

I had a busy weekend last week. Not only did I run Bay to Breakers, but I also attended a Charity Fashion Show at Stanford University as well. The show was well choreographed and wonderfully put together, the models- students and alumni of Stanford were stunningly beautiful, the live music by 'Fans of Jimmy Century' was so awesome, and my front row press seat was a perfect spot to spectate the scene. It was a great show!

Sorry, these pictures really suck, but I wanted to show you what I wore to the show. I absolutely love my dress, it is a beautiful neutral shade of gray, in the most silky material possible, it has these adorable business-esque pockets in the front, and a nice cinched waist.

so NOT fashionable

So my race was this past Sunday, I trained long and hard for this 12K run, and now its over. It was intense, but I had my lovely sister pushing me until the very end, and it was so totally worth it. I can't wait to sign up for it next year! During the really tough hills I kept thinking.... I can't wait to have my first beer, second and third...I so deserve it! Not only was my sister an unbelievably great motivator, but so were all the sideline supporters, and of course the over the top (or lack there of) costumes! There were over 64,000 runners, and it was quite the experience running next to veteran's, newbies, nudes, and avatar's alike. As one of the first 10,000 people to cross the finish line, we both got our names printed in The Examiner the following day! Congrats sissy I knew we could do it ;)

yay or nay?

I totally want these shoes, but not sure whether I should shell out the $105 it costs to purchase these seasonal shoes! I know, for some lucky girls out there, $105 is nothing compared to the monthly rental equivalent you spend on your Louboutin fix! But I have to think about this purchase a bit more than usual since its more of an impulse buy (no returns!). And since I have already purchased two pairs of wedges in the last few months! I think also, because I wanted them in brown, but since they are sold out in my size in brown, I am pining for them in black even though they are not as cute as brown. What do you think, black for $105+ tax? They are originally $150, at 30% off am I crazy to not have already bought them?!

models and mortals

Attended a Red Cross Charity Fashion Show recently, as I was writing a piece covering the show. The clothes were magical, inventive, and stunning to say the least! I was truly amazed by the local, ingenious designers! The models worked every last dress, and definitely pulled off the over the top looks. I spent the better part of my night hanging out with the models backstage, in hair and makeup, and during the photo shoots. It was a nice, and an interesting change of scene from usually just watching them in the audience.

random bar hop

Even though I sipped on seltzer all night, I went on a pseudo bar hop of sorts last Friday. The evening began at The Ambassador (hence the telephone in the second shot), where we sat at a booth, sans bottle service. From there we made our way to Bourbon and Branch- the elusive speakeasy where a secret password is necessary to imbibe in the library-esqe spot, the elderflower champagne cocktails looked divine- I'll have to try one next time I'm there! Next up, Swig, most definitely the most fun of all three! The place was packed, the fresh fruit drinks were being made non-stop, the music was so good, it even made a nearby patron think he was Usher--as he bust out the moves! Last stop of the night--Osha's, best anytime Thai food ever. This place was even more packed than some of the bars I went too! A good time was had by all, even the designated driver!

p.s...so random, but I totally saw Sinbad this same day, as I was running on the treadmill, he was coming out of the nearby movie theater by himself. Maybe he went to see Iron Man 2? Did anybody else go see it? I actually saw Letters to Juliet---adorable!!

Hot like Mexico

Went to a Poolside Soiree fashion show at Santana Row last Saturday. It was so much fun, I had the best time with my sister! We got all dolled up, and smoozed with the Real Housewives of Santa Clara. Or maybe it was more like sneering, since we found seats, and they didn't! Regardless the atmosphere was alive with fashion, and fun people. The models were working the crowd, the clothes were to die for, and the sun was hot. All perfect elements for a great, see-and-be-seen must attend event! Hope you'll join us next time!

sf love

I spent the most beautiful day in San Francisco recently with a very good friend of mine, who lives far far away. We gossiped, talked about our boys, drank wine mid-day, and took in the waterfront vibe, it was in a word, perfection. Mostly because seeing my friends is very important to me, keeping good girlfriends around is essential for my health, and sanity! The weather surprised us both as we sat to brunch at Marketbar, at a umbrella-less table, in the gorgeous, but overwhelming, 70+ sunshine. The food was fantastic, the pinot was perfect, and people watching was great--sadly I saw and instantly coveted some chick in my never found Cynthia Vincent wedges....tears...

My outfit was inspired by Erin Wasson (like, who isn't) model off duty look, meets the Real World cast of SF 1989. Kind of a grunge bohemian smash up + ring overload.
