in the shade

{Sweet Pea dress, Old Navy vest, Steve Madden booties, Rebecca Minkoff bag}

Sometimes less is more, in this case it was a hot day, hence I was wearing less (crazy) than usual on our unseasonably warm, for the Bay Area, fall day. But because looks can be deceiving my friends, sunny California ain't sunny or warm no more- and I must disclose these pics were from a weeks back- when I could actually feel my toes in open toe sandals!  But nowadays even though it feels like Winter, don't get it twisted, it's still very much fall...brrrr, at least on Dec 21st there will be excuse for the chill! So with credit card in hand, I went a shoppin' at the nearby outdoor mall, and tried to get my tan as well! Oh sunny fall days how I miss thee.

Now for some appropriate "winter" dressing, check out little old me, featured this week in the NY Times Style Section!!!! I'm sporting a gorgeously colored royal purple velvet number, check it here!

go big, or go home

{Hollister cardigan, H&M pants, Apt. 9 shirt, Zara shoes, Jewelmint necklace, Ann Taylor cuff, & F21 ring}

So these pictures may be a little obnoxious of me, buuuuut I love the combo of all the textures, colors, and pretty much the overall concept of a crazy kinda seasonal outfit like this one! What can I say,  I have been obsessed with cozy knits, red hues, and these stacked heels- obvi, a fave of mine! If I could wear this outfit everyday for a month I would- it's quintessentially me! The all the way buttoned up silk top, the buttery (p)leather pants, cap toe kicks and jewelry to the max- like the saying goes: go big or go home, right?!

mad for plaid

(Derek Heart flannel top, Bubblegum denim, Kashmere scarf, thrifted vest, Zara heels}

There always comes that time of year when I go a little bit crazy for a plaid color combo. Red in particular is my weakness. Perhaps it reminds of the upcoming holiday season, or Dolce & Gabbana's fall 2008 plaid-tastic campaign, but one thing is for certain, I am in looove, and this year is no exception! I plan on stocking up on this statement making tartan cloth in every shade of the rainbow. I may even steal the bf's assorted selection of hue's- because we all know the boys gravitate towards the plaid as much as we try to get them to wear something else (as the bay area bloggers nod in agreement, because the bf happend to show last night wearing said plaid shirt)!

Now, can we talk about how rad this vest is?? Yup that's me gloating because I scored this bad boy in Zanesville, Ohio at a Goodwill none the less, at -ahem- a cool $4, holla! It's kind of amazing, and I don't really want to take it off. Here's to rad under five scores.

geek chic

{J. Crew striped top, Levi's button up, edc denim, penny loafers from Alloy, asos laptop case, Bonlook glasses}

Somedays I don't really want to dress up, I want to throw on jeans, a loose fitting top and call it a day! But I can't really do that in my line of work- so I jazz up "low-key" as much as I can on those days. Really it's all about the extra's anyway, an outfit isn't automatically spectacular- it's the way you present the whole package!  So even though today's outfit was very low maintenance, I still felt very much on it, with my smartie alter ego in tow.

leather and sparkle

{Mossimo moto jacket, F21 sequin skirt, American Eagle Outfitters sweater, Ban.do clip hearts, Janet Setter necklace, NWM Tiffany & Co. necklace, Franco Sarto boots, Dior tights}

Leather and sequins are not usually something I normally rock on an everyday basis, but I decided to dress up on this blustery fall day, and add some sparkle to my step! I tried toning it down with a large oversized sweater, and a muted gray faux leather jacket, but there is no hiding those sequins- they are loud and proud! I'm pretty sure everyone in the office did a double take whenever I walked by.

The accessories in this post are some of my favorites! The hearts were a gift from my WikiFashion meetup, and literally make any outfit pop! The two necklaces draped on my neck are from the Nike Women's Marathon 2011- that I ran a few weeks ago. And the second one from Janet Setter, who makes the most beautiful hand crafted jewelry! The designs are intricate and thoughtfully crafted, definitely  statement pieces to wear year round!

warmish fall day

{xhilaration top, thrifted jumper, DV boots, Rebecca Minkoff bag, Kenneth Cole necklace}

I guess you can never really predict what the weather will be like, even if a forecast is given- hello inaccurate weatherman! On an unseasonably warm weekday I overdressed for the occasion, and had to cool off with a honey lavender gelato, since stripping off the tights wasn't an option.

By the way, if you can't already tell, I've grown to love my Rebecca Minkoff bag even more than I ever thought possible. The salmon, tangerine-ish hue I decided on was quite possibly the best color decision I've ever settled on. I think I'm ready to add another one to the collection. Any suggestions on colors?

Insta-Tuesday

So I haven't been blogging as regularly, or as much as I'd like to in a really long time now. Partly because work takes so much of my day- don't get it twisted though, I love my new job! So all I want to do when I get home is throw on some sweats, curl up in a ball on the couch and sip red vino while watching Gossip Girl--eeek I'm such a cat lady!

So here's my attempt at making up for it, cue my favorite Instagram pic's from the week--tada! Lately I have been obsessed with insta-documenting my adventures, outfit posts, and overall favorite things on this awesome app! It really makes everything look so much better! So if you have an iPhone, download this app and come say hi, or ever better if you want to follow along, my user name is carharris.

home on the range

 {H&M coat, thrifted denim shirt, Gap corduroys, Jeffery Campbell booties, Kenneth Cole collar necklace}

This here, has got to be my favorite fall look to date- the warm autumn hue in the pants, the heeled suede booties, the fact that I wore this overcoat all day- even in the office, and a bit of glitz in the collar necklace peeking out under a buttoned up top! It's sort of a fun western wear meets modern day office apparel getup. I'm so lucky my line of work allows me to take such creative measures with expressing my "fashion sense"- seeing as somedays it's lace scalloped shorts, and two toned fur coats!! You can actually see the crazy outtakes in said fur coat if you follow me on instagram, my user name is @carharris

toodles! x

denim on denim

{Madewell Chambray shirt, Gap high waisted jeans, Rebecca Minkoff 5 zip rocker, Chinese Laundry booties, nOir bracelet, J. Crew bracelet, F21 bracelet}

This day I was able to attend a seminar held for SF Cocktail week, on how to host a stellar brunch and provide perfect cocktails (thanks to scoring tickets on Refinery29.com!!)- I got to try all sorts of fun bevvies I never even knew existed! My favorite by far was the build your own Bloody Mary- with over 60 items to add at the bar to make my perfect concoction!

p.s have a fab weekend, and if you could, do me a favor and like this awesome new FB page- I work for a new fashion app company called Poshmark - xxo (even better if you go download it here!!)

grandpa chic

{Hollister cardigan, J. Crew top, high waisted jeans c/o Gap, vintage Coach satchel, SM boots, glass c/o Bonlook}

As much as I love sequins, suede and all things over the top sometimes it's nice to dress down, and there's nothing better than a comfortable and easy to put together look. This outfit took me from campus to retail therapy in no time- hence the school boy meets grandpa theme. I concluded a grandpa chic look was incomplete without a great pair of faux lenses, so I pulled out these two toned stunners from Bonlook that I scored at a Wikifashion meetup, and they obvi brought it to a whole new level.
 Grandpa chic at it's finest! How do you guys do the GCL (Grandpa Chic Look)?

pink suede and sushi

 {thrifted boys blazer, Kensie sweater, Asos suede shorts, UO shoes, vintage Coach mini satchel, J. Crew flower pin, rings: H&M, Marley B Parker}

These are the newest suede addition to my closet, and by newest I mean only suede clothing item in the closet! But so far they do not disappoint, a perfect piece to transition from our very short Indian Summer, to the now chilly fall weather I've come to expect from San Francisco, albeit with heavy tights and maybe even tall boots.

I wore this to grab a bite to eat at one of my fave reasonably priced sushi shops in the city- Kiki Japanese Restaurant, and it was perfect for the low key vibe. But next time I wear my shorts I'll make sure to not eat anything in them, since dry cleaning suede costs more than what I paid for them, and because apparently I can't eat without spilling food on my brand new shorts! Yep, you heard right! Already a small blemish on my precious shorts! And no, I'm not dry cleaning them- I'll save that money for more clothes, and-- food!

night and day

{Honey Doll jacket, Gap high waisted jeans, thrifted Ralph Lauren top, Silence and Noise scarf, vintage Chanel purse, Jeffery Campbell booties}

An outfit fit for a late afternoon, turned evening wine tasting adventure. The bf and I checked out unwind on union, in the Marina district of San Francisco and kind of fell in love with the food, the wine, and the atmosphere of the gorgeous restaurant! I really can't wait to go back.

Oh yeah, and those boots really were made for walking- even up and down the hilly SF streets!
