Felt like wearing all black this day- highly unlike me. Decided to be less obvious and inject some texture into the outfit. This amazingly versatile crochet number also worn here and here, fit the bill.

Thank God it's Friday, I needed a margarita 5 hours ago. Here's to a weekend of debauchery and numbing the pain of a painful work week.

just a small town girl

I found this jumper at a thrift shop years ago. I still love wearing it year round, whether it's layered on top of blousy tops or by itself in the summer. I am convinced it must have belonged to a librarian, either that or came part of a school girl uniform. I'm going to go with the later, just because I was once forced to wear stuff like this in my youth. Take that Catholic school girl upbringing--look whose wearing fur and five inch heels now?

I must have channeled my inner Britney Spears- circa "Hit Me Baby One More Time", since I busted out the knee highs and oxfords on this irregularly sunny winter day. And don't even get me started on the Dutch girl braid crown in my hair. What can I say; I think I have a complex.

sub-zero

A few days ago the Bay Area was beyond freezing- okay so maybe it was like 40 degrees- but that is super unusual for any time of year here! I was headed to a comedy show and knew I would be walking a lot so I layered up; threw on my favorite/only red coat, boots for extra warmth and bundled up with a gigantic scarf, and beret à la Faye Dunaway. I'm happy with the outcome I like to call it Bonnie and Clyde meet the Nutcracker!

Regardless of the outlandish depiction behind my outfit, I was in fact very warm walking through the streets of San Francisco. Unlike my boyfriend, who figured he could brave the weather in a simple military- yet stylish by my standards, spring jacket- oy vey!

miss betty draper

This New Years dress code was a bit of a departure from the norm for me. I'm usually all sparkles. This time around I decided to channel the elegant Ms. Betty Draper. Fur, wingtip eyeliner, massive retro rocks on my ears, and somewhat of a disheveled updo. I was not only celebrating New Year's festivities, but my beau and I six year anniversary--obviously amping up the class, and toning down the crazy. Well not all of it, I had to bust out my wrist armor, bringing a little grunge to the outfit, and then of course there is the coat...

Please don't judge the matchy matchy coat and shoes- I really ran out the door, thinking the coat would only be worn while traveling from car to restaurant, restaurant to car, then car to house party. And immediately off it came, until I realized it was too freaking cold to withstand. So my fashion faux paux was made noticeable to a lot more than I would have liked it to.

Happy New Year everyone! Hope you all were able to celebrate this special time of year with loved ones nearby, and maybe a glass, or two of bubbly! I am actually still feeling the effects of a mimosa fueled brunch yesterday and cannot seem to properly function- really a great way to start the year by the way (sarcasm in voice)! With the mimosa juice running wildly through me and my friends' veins all of us brunch guests decided it fitting to continue the mimosa tradition every Sunday-obviously I'm the only one who works on Mondays and therefore cannot hang like I used to with my much cooler friends!

As for resolutions, I have amounted several which include both fashion and non. Fashion-wise I want to wear my Sunday best- on Wednesday, meaning sequin blazer and sweat pants for happy hour, feather collar and velvet leggings to shop a drugstore; I pretty much want to dress without restrictions and be a bit more daring with my choices- if that is even possible. Regular everyday resolutions include: living in the present, not dwelling on the past or fretting about the future- within reason of course. And to end my overindulgent relationship with the ubiquitous snooze button, and once and for all wake up when my damn alarm clock goes off- the first time! Does anyone else have an unhealthy relationship with their alarm clock? What are your resolutions..do tell!
