free hippie

{xhilaration lace dress, F21 hat, Dolce Vita boots, jewelry: vintage, F21 & World Market}

Just playing with my wardrobe, I was feeling very Free People when I threw on the hat and over the limit amount of silver jewelry.

Love this dress, it has an incredible color and will probably be a staple come sunnier days. I was attempting to make this Bay Area winter ahem, spring outfit work by adding knee-highs, little did I know the weather had other plans for me this day. So back inside I crawled, threw on my fur coat and watched Almost Famous.

what the boy likes

{Tramp dress, Empyre blazer, American Apparel sweatshirt, Franco Sarto boots, Hollister beanie}

I've been working on my androgynous side lately. I am always on the hunt for inspiration and seemed to have found it in spring campaigns for Club Monaco and J. Crew, images in my head of chic ladies from last year's trip to Paris, and hours on the Sartorialist.

The last bit was actually recommended to me by my boyfriend, who himself was caught up in all the glorious style porn on Schuman's site. He insisted I would look good in something similar to what a wildly chic European women was caught traipsing around Milan in. I did my best to recreate it, and this is what I came up with, minus the pixie cut and Birkin.

By the way, I really want something new with my hair, I want to grow it out, but it's getting to that point where it's hard not to cut. I also want color...any ideas? I'm so ready for a change, I'm thinking about dying the brows, a la Camille Belle.

never say never

{Hollister coat, cat blouse purchased in Paris, Zella leggings, Dolce Vita boots, Taneesi earrings, Ya Living scarf}

This past weekend I did something I said I would never do again. I ran another half marathon. The first one was completely grueling and took such a fierce toll on my body I immediately got the flu after those trying 13.1 miles. I can't really pinpoint where I eventually changed my mind, but I'm glad I did. It was a pretty big accomplishment, and I even beat my last time! I'm even thinking about my next one- anyone interested in running Nike Women's SF in October?!

Enough of this un-fashionable talk already! Let's get to the juice- these super hot and versatile leggings I'm wearing. I scored them in the Nordstrom workout section. And yes, I do work out in them, and yes I wore them on my half marathon day! They are kind of like my lucky charm- well not really but they sure make me feel like I run a lot faster when I wear them. Either way fashion faux pas or not (leggings as pants? did I just turn into Lindsey?), I'm still going to rock them since the bf says he likes when I wear them- and let me tell you ladies those words don't make their way out too often (ie, this conversation).

{run Carlina run!}

leather on leather

{H&M duster coat, LOFT sheer blouse, vintage DKNY leather skirt, Hollister beanie, Nine West booties, F21 belt, ring, BR Market Tote}

Decided to dress up on Oscar Sunday, even though I didn't go to any Oscar viewing parties, or even watch any of it. Regardless this is me dressing up or down, on a most elegant night. I wanted to pull out my sequin blazer, and maxi skirt, and go all out, but my mind changed direction once I saw this skirt hanging untouched in my closet.

I busted out the red lips, my hipster beanie, and pulled out my newest favorite bag- which my bf just happened to surprise me on Valentine's Day with. It's so dreamy- I mean it feels like butter!

Technicolored

{Aeropostale sweater, wet seal sheer top, Trina Trunk scarf, bubblegum denim, Steve Madden booties}

Wore this fun little outfit on a wine tasting trip to Napa- figured if spilled any wine on me it would eventually blend in!  No, just kidding, I really just threw it together right before I was scrambling out the door.  It started with the purple sheer top and jeans, and then I just kept adding.  Before I knew it I had turned into the bag lady on the corner with a better jewelry selection- and I liked it!  The Navajo print on the cardigan and the contrasting sharp shades on the scarf made me giddy, I felt like a tribal rock-star all day- gotta love mixing and mis-matching!
