fashion camp

{Banana Republic sweater & leather tote, thrifted vest (this one is beyond chic), Paige denim c/o, Asos tartan scarf (similar one here), Hollister beanie, Chinese Laundry booties}

Truth be told I've never been much of a camper, er, and by much of a camper I mean- never been camping. This American pastime was lost on me, and now I refuse to do any camping, unless it's glamping (glamourous camping). Which I may never get to go if I'd like to continue my shopping habit, tre expensive it what I've heard. So this outfit is a bit of a tribute to my outdoorsy self. Minus the sequins on the shoulders, and the heeled booties, it might actually be practical for a hike!

well styled wednesday: it's finally cocktail party season

While I generally don't wait for a special occasion to get dolled up, and throw on all my sequin pieces at the same time, it makes sense to reserve just that enthusiasm for this time of year. Tis the season, right? So I'll start with an outfit that I wouldn't mind wearing to a night out on the town, Christmas dinner with my BFF, or even NYE. This similar feather and lace dress had me at hello. Paired with a simple middle part low bun, a deep burgundy pout, sparkly mani, some sassy shoes, a little bling and of course a fab McQueen block clutch. Ready for the night out, right? My dilemma- which shoes are better- the right baroque inspired pair, or the left sparklers?

my moments

This past weekend I celebrated Thanksgiving stateside. This American holiday is always an opportunity for me to be thankful for what I have, and even reflect on what I don't- while thinking through what it is I really need anyways. Life is full of tricky, and sometimes difficult moments, it's how we react to these situations that really define us as people. I'm lucky I can truly say I'm blessed with health, support of family, and a deep love for my someone special.

Here are a few more frivolous moments I'm also thankful for:
-Moments to myself for catalogue shopping, and manicures.
-Baking! Especially this time of year- pumpkin cranberry bread, anyone?
-Having a stuffed closet, and overflowing jewelry box to pick out even a 20's inspired outfit from.
-Comfortable walking shoes, even if it raining.
-Coffee. Christmas blend.

baby, it's cold outside

{Velvet Heart coat (similar style), Gap jeans, H&M men's sweatshirt, Target socks, Franco Sarto boots, Zara handbag, SEE sunglasses (similar style) c/o}

When it's cold out you don't want to do much, let alone dress up to brave the uncertain weather. Thank goodness for large coats to keep out the chilly weather and still look polished.

Back to the grind after the stateside Thanksgiving holiday, how was everyone's long weekend?

well-styled wednesday: Kris from Fashionista San Francisco!

Today I'm super excited to work on my first blogger post collab with Kris and her crew from Fashionista San Francisco! Make sure you hop on over to her blog and check out more from her, but before you do- read her SF men's style Black Friday recommendations here. Take it away Kris...
Black Friday is days away and while the malls will be absolute craziness with their midnight madness (seriously???) we wanted to bring you our top Gifts For Guys from our favorite SF boutiques. Doesn't it sound endlessly better to sleep off that turkey dinner, grab a cappuccino and a little breakie and cruise the city streets at your own pace? We've got your whole day planned out so sit back, relax, and let us take care of the start and finish of your Holiday Shopping for all the men in your life... cocktails included.

Grab your girlfriends and start your morning with some french toast, fresh squeezed OJ and a cap at the Grove Hayes Valley. After you're all fueled up walk across the street to Welcome Stranger. This mens only shop is an extension of our fave spot Azalea and won't disappoint. Great staff and really cool swag. Pop over to Azalea while you are here and grab yourself a little treat...you deserve it. After you've picked up some gear for your guys head on over to the Mission and check out Hangr16. This shop features great art shows and events every couple of weeks and the owners are incredible. They carry a sweet range of mens and womens fashions but we especially love their accessories so this is a great place to knock all those stocking stuffers off your lists. The second best part about Hangr16 is that it's located directly across from arguably the best gastropub in the city: The Monk's Kettle.  Grab a giant pretzel and one (or two) of the 200 beers they offer. If you can get the Mikkeller Sleep Over Coffee Imperial IPA do it!  After your thirst is quenched head to your last location...Lower Haight. You will wrap up all your mens shopping needs at DSF Clothing & Art Company. Their focus is on the experience of boutique shopping highlighting art, music, and fashion from independent artists. All shopped out? It's time for dinner at Maven, which happens to be our favorite new food experience. The menu is small plates and each dish is paired with either an ingenious cocktail (think Border Crosser: mezcal, bourbon, amaro, vermouth) or a beer or wine. It's all about large shared tables here so it's a great place for a group.  Get all of your boys to meet you here and celebrate with the best styled men in town.

Under The Tree:

1. JC Rags Woven Tweed Blazer from Hangr16 ~$220
3. SeaVees Shoes from Azalea ~$178
6. Poler Duffaluffagus Duffel Bag from Welcome Stranger ~$80

In The Stocking:

animal practice

{Oxford & Regent faux fur coat (similar style), Blank NYC denim (similar style), Tory Burch Robinson mini bag, Bamboo penny loafers, Gap hat, bracelets: J. Crew (look-a-likes here), Stella & Dot, rings by Fiat Luxe c/o}

Sometimes all you want to do on a cold day is snuggle up with your faux fur throw and watch a repeat showing of Elf. But, if that isn't an option, and you just have to leave the house to go with your bf to pick up his race packet for the Urbanathlon then you might as well throw on a faux fur coat- the next best thing to slouchy comfort style.

I was channeling a recent Free People lookbook I saw a few months ago when I put this look together. The fur, the hat, the cuffed jeans, and the penny loafers all took me to what I imagined would be London in the 60's. I sure do love how fashion can transport you mentally and emotionally with just the right outfit.

Stay tuned tomorrow for a very special, and my first ever guest blog post collaboration, with another local blogger!

transform your shopping experience...

With the holidays coming up, and Black Friday only days away, too many of us are faced with the frenzy of gift giving, and present shopping for oneself (guilty as charged!) As much as I love spending hours in a mecca of beautiful clothing and -ahem- sometimes unnecessary goodies, who has the time? Stores can get overwhelming, and online shopping can add up with shipping charges from each individual store. So when I found out about a shopping app that lets you shop all your favorite stores, and websites in one place, on the go- your iphone or android- and all in just one click with their Universal Cart system, I had to try it out! The Best Decision app by Leap Commerce is just that. It helps you find your holiday shopping at the best price, and even gives you search functionality to locate gifts-on-the-go near you.

So pretty much what it comes down to- a free, mobile shopping app is going to save you time, money and your still going to get that shopping high when you get all your pretty purchases, from all those different stores when you buy them through the Best Decision app with a single checkout click. Sounds good to me!

Testing the app I searched many different sites, not just fashion related. I'm a big fan of home decor, so I searched for a few items that I already had my eye on like: a deer sculpture from Elle's home collection, a pair of gilded pig bookends from CB2- and they were both there! I added them to my cart and I kept shopping. Up next, a little something for my closet from Asos. I instantly added an amazing suede sheath and a pretty peplum belt. One checkout, one shipping charge, super easy- this is going to make my life a lot less complicated this holiday season. Now if only there was an app to figure out what to buy everyone...

Have you ever tried out this app? I'd love to know your thoughts!

my take on burgundy lips...

{J. Crew boys flannel, Princess by Vera Wang jacket, Paige denim c/o, thrifted bolo tie c/o from Savers, Nine West boots via DSW}

Remember yesterday when I professed my new found love for the latest fall hue? Burgundy, or Oxblood as used by the fashion set. Granted I have yet to find the perfect pre-mixed shade, the images above show me in a mix of Lancome's brown liner, and a no name berry lip stain I found in my makeup box. I'd love to hear your thoughts on your fave beauty brands that do a good matte burgundy lip shade. I'm on the hunt for the perfect cocktail party lipstick!

well-styled wednesday: the burgundy pout

I am currently obsessed with finding the perfect burgundy pout- ever since I saw the Vogue Paris editorial above. I'm on the hunt for a shade that is vampy enough, but not bordering on the verge of scary, or making me seem like an extra in The Craft. I love that this lipstick hue is making the rounds within the stylish set this time of year- how appropriate right? And best thing about this shade is it's pretty versatile with when you can wear it, how you wear it, and what to wear it with. As seen on the three pretty ladies above you can rock wild patterns, faux fur, and even a preppy buttoned up tomboy look with this sassy pout.

Stay tuned tomorrow to see how I attempt my version of the burgundy pout!

how to style pajama pants for an outdoor look

{thrifted denim jacket and pins, J. Crew factory tee, Anthropologie pajama pants, Zara heels, Marc by Marc Jacobs magazine clutch}

Comfort is key, right? When I spotted these pajama look-a-likes at Anthropologie (on sale no less) I instantly thought up several different ways to style them for fall. I brought my new pants home, and imagine my surprise when I found out they were indeed real pajama bottoms! At first I was a little skeptical on if I could pull the whole look off, but when I put them on, they were so comfortable that I just couldn't take them back. So, about my attempt to style these bad boys up- what do you think??

Style Tip: Pair your silky pajama bottoms with heels to elongate your legs, and add a day clutch for a less off-the-cuff look!

For your chance to win $100 in Aveeno and J&J products just leave a comment below, and I'll choose a name at random. Good luck!

blue chips

{bracelets from top to bottom: thrifted, vintage piece from mom, J. Crew; outfit: F21 turtleneck, H&M maxi dress, Gap fedora}

I'm a bit of bracelet junkie. I love something beautiful that stands out, and makes a loud statement! When I saw this turquoise elephant bracelet of all things, I had to have it, and it was on sale- I love a good J. Crew sale. It was loud, sparkly and bit out there-perfect- this is definitely a piece I can see myself wearing for many decades and even pass along to my daughter. Of course, one good turquoise piece deserves another, so I did a little matching. Pairing a similarly hued maxi summer frock with a cozy cropped turtleneck, and my new fall staple-the hat! A good swipe of pink lipstick and I'm off to conquer the world one matchy-matchy outfit at a time.

well-styled wednesday: the fisherman sweater

The sweater is to fall as Obama is to the presidency (yeah, that's right I snuck in election garb!) It's just makes sense. The weather is cold out, you want to look chic, but not freeze your buns off. It's perennial cool weather chic done right, right? The cable knit fisherman sweater is a no-brainer and it's super easy to style. I love the idea of this nubby knit paired with a something feminine or streamlined- like a ball gown skirt, a sleek pair of leather pants, or even a bejeweled mini. Since fall is all about layering, don't forget to throw on a fur trimmed khaki bomber, and a chic bedazzled beret to solidify your cool girl status!

These are my top three fisherman sweaters on the web right this moment, a stunning Kenzo option, an olive hued option, and an affordable oatmeal pullover option! Are any of them on your list too?

Style tip: throw on a delicate statement necklace to complete your fall look- enter my giveaway today- and win one for yourself!
