{Zara coat (epic replica!), Zara turtleneck (luurve this grey version!), Larsen Grey pencil skirt (super fun version!), Jigsaw London booties, Karen Walker Super sunglasses}

This outfit is pretty moody- the burgundy lip, neutral on neutral, and the heavy navy booties- I'm glad I found a cheery red scooter to pep things up a bit. You know how sometimes you leave the house and love the way your outfit looks, and after going back to review photographic evidence you realize not so much anymore? Well that was kind of me this day. The slouchy silhouette on top with the sleek pencil skirt does it for me for sure, but in hindsight maybe not so much on the booties. What do you think- booties or pumps? And maybe I needed my classic red lip as opposed to this deep mauve I'm sporting?

And so goes the age-old question- does this outfit make me look fat good?

Some more favorite cape pieces..

Weekends luxuriating in serene rolling landscapes, copious amounts of lady-like pours of wine, and an endless supply of candy-like clementines make for good ones, I think. A few weekends ago that is exactly what I did at Scribe Winery- a cool kid venue with striking views and well dressed people, it's almost like I never did leave San Francisco for Sonoma. Go figure.

I wore a few of my new obsessions for a look that was rustic wine-chic appropriate yet on-point with comfort. One- my turtleneck, if you follow me on Instagram you know I acquired quite a few of these in the last few months courtesy of my trip to Montreal, and they are old-lady chic at it's finest, my favorite. Two- this cape, it's blanket-like qualities and supreme softness make it an ideal topper for unsure weather conditions. And three- these leggings (yes, I know!) disguised as skinny denim make for the ultimate stretchy pants dream come true. Perfect wine tasting look if you ask me.

Happy Monday, gals!

It's no surprise I enjoy dressing up like a little (French?) boy sometimes, hence the obsession with these overalls. I mean they are just so easy to style up, down, or in between- like this look today. With my no-fail trusty button up, and the help of my friends at Les Méchantes, I was able to elevate an otherwise weekend look and pull it off for a day of Friday meetings. The silk lady tie feminizes the aesthetic and brings a pop of color in an otherwise two-note situation.

I know what you're thinking, where can I get that tie? Well not only can I tell you, but Les Méchantes was kind enough to offer all Allergic to Vanilla readers a special discount! Use code allergictovanilla for 15% off anything on the site. That's major because I am definitely coveting this one, am I allowed to use my own code?

Happy Friday, friends! Is anyone doing anything exciting?

New year, new 'do. I've been needing a hair cut since 6 weeks after I got my last one, and I won't tell you how long ago that was! I love the new length, and it's even more bouncy when it's curly. Can we talk about this sweater though? I've had it for years and don't ever pull it out of the closet until it gets really cold. It was packed and ready to go for Montreal but realistically I wouldn't have been able to wear a coat over it, so it didn't come with. And I of course wanted to wear it as soon as I came back. I love it with these sleek pants, and prim pumps- it def tones down the crazy faux fur sleeves. And we all know how much I love my fur!

montreal: winter travel diary

My husband and I decided to get out of town to celebrate New Years, and our 10 year dating anniversary. Ten years is a long time so we decided to get way out of town. We've traveled to Montreal before and fell in love with the city, the vibe, the people, the food and the fabulous weather. So of course we decided to do it again, but in the winter time with the probability of snow- which is something we were both really excited about!

This trip to Montreal was quite special, we of course enjoyed our vacation, had some really memorable meals, met some lovely people, and even had our bit of snow. It started to fall about 15 minutes before midnight on NYE- it's pretty magical to see snow dusted at your feet and beginning to descend in such a gracious way. The snow continued for a few days and even got a little agressive at the end, let's just say snow blowing into your face as you try and navigate the streets without proper eye-gear is not as fun as you might think. While I lovvved Montreal and it's sleepy beauty this winter trip, next time I come back it'll be when the grass is green and the sun shining.
