the 4 best cyber monday sales!

cyber Monday sales, cyber Monday deals, J. Crew Cyber Monday sales, FarFetch Cyber Monday sales, ShopBop Cyber Monday sales, LuisaViaRoma Cyber Monday sales

Happy Monday! With the haze of a leftover fueled extra long weekend behind us it's time to really get down to business. A few years ago I abandoned my Black Friday strategy —4am espresso shots for a 5am mall arrival— for the comfort of sleeping in and watching the madness of everyone else fight for the last hot-list item from the safety of home. True to form this year was no different, you could barely get me out of bed before 10am. I didn't do much damage- a fur stole here, a hat there. Like I said not much.

Black Friday has always been about scouting the latest deals for those on my nice list. This year I'm starting a new tradition on Cyber Monday and looking to cross off the list of things on my wishlist. While there are a ton of great sales out there, here are my top four, and the hot-list items I'd go to bat for. ;)

J. Crew
The store that indulged both my preppy Blair fascination and Serena cool-girl fix. The sales are so good. Free S&H on all orders + 40% off 500+ items; 30% off everything else, use code MONDAY.

Farfetch
The online store from near and far where dreams are made, and IRO and Valentino baby-dolls are aplenty. Take an extra 10% off sale with code bf15.

LuisaViaRoma
The luxury online shop making me crave a bit of the Self-Portrait pie. What'dya think the jumpsuit, or the navy blue one? Take an extra 20% off already discounted items with code BF2062.

Shopbop
The shop that makes it all too easy to get my favorite trends in one place, and rarely has a sale is getting in on the action. Take 15% off $250+, 20% off $500+, and 25% off orders $1000+, use code GOBIG15.

With the Thanksgiving holiday approaching in less in two days, US side, visions of sugar plums are definitely dancing in my head. Regarding my favorite time of the year there a few trends and looks, that to me, embody the spirit of the holidays. Festive plaid prints, sparkle and sequins, sumptuous velvet, cranberry red hues and fur. This last one has been calling my name a lot lately. Fur collars, chunky sherpa coats, shearling vests- all a testament to how much I am into this cozy outerwear style, even if it means I'm usually the only one in the room with a purple faux fur wrap and a cashmere floor length coat on.

So of course when French Connection asked me to pick a sample from their latest holiday collection, I picked the faux fur coat! The ladylike silhouette reminds me of a time when ladies really went all out, gloves on, hair perfectly coiffed, lacquered lips and nails- the works, or as they would say "the norm." I wanted the coat to really standout so I toned the look down with skintight black denim, nude pumps and a slick back hairdo. I'd categorize this as my un-holiday, holiday look. How are you dressing up or dressing down for the holidays this year?

ode to bianca

Express coat, soldout online, but similar & better price point here, TY-LR Bianca top c/o, Zip skinny denim c/o, Coach Tamara pumps, ectu handbag}

Bianca Jagger is one of those woman who was born with it- the swagger, the beauty, the heart, not the mention the lifefstyle! As a fellow Nicaraguan myself she will always be an inspiration to me. Her looks, and her relationships, probably gained her most notoriety— the Studio 54 getups, the furs, and the disco-era style she so easily pulled off will forever be emulated.

Here I do my best in the TY-LR Bianca top, it's fitting no? This top has a necktie closure that can be worn in a bow, flipped over each side- as I'm wearing in the pics- or simply hung down. I brought the look to full disco fruition by rocking my latest addition of the fuzzy coat family- I have about 4 of these style coats, it's a problem and have my eye on this one next.

plaid midi skirt

{Leather moto jacket c/o Coach, Fleece turtleneck, Plaid midi skirt soldout, great inexpensive option, Pumps, Cross body handbag, Lipstick}

I read somewhere that Blair Eadie had brought back the midi skirt. As an ex San Francisco favorite I can attest to the truth in that statement, she probably could make marabou feathers and evening wear  trendy options too! While the midi skirt can be hard to wear, the trick, as always, is to pair the statement piece with flattering companions. In this instance it was a tucking my turtleneck into this high-waist skirt, then adding a moto leather jacket, stud pumps, and an orange-red lip to not give off a librarian vibe, or at least a chic one at that.

{Tribal coat sold out, but a shorter similar style here, Fringe turtleneck, my most reached for denim, Red lip shade, boots old- but these are next on my short boot list!}

While I'm fully enjoying my Fall situation  —PSL's, plaid on plaid, pumpkin almost-everything— there is something about the allure of days that get colder and the promise of a new season. While Summer is my favorite season, winter is a close second with it's twinkling little lights and holly-red everything. I'm starting to get in the spirit now with my holiday red lip and the chunkiest of fringe sweaters. Seriously, nothing is cozier or cooler than the combo of a punchy red lip and a forgiving chunky knit. I paired these two with a slim denim legging- to elongate the body under all those layers, and a short cowboy boot to keep the look casual.

What are you most excited about this Winter?

These photos were taken in NYC a few weeks ago when I was there for work. I did the tourist thing — I lazily strolled through Central Park excitedly pointing out all the foliage, took in a show at the Apollo (amateur night at that!), rode the subway every which way I could and just took it all in. I was lucky enough to take it all in with my guy, since he was there for work too, we decided NY is for us, and we may move there one day. Maybe you'll see these brownstone stairs on a more regular occurrence one day.
