Summer you were a sweet one. I will never not say Summer is my favorite month, I'm not sure how that will change in the future but for now it is. It captures all my favorite things — HOT weather, a time to splurge on three week vacations somewhere far away (preferably with an Aperol Spritz in hand), my birthday month, and impromptu trips to wine country to experience fields of lavender like those above.

Last month I celebrated my birthday month, we took Friday and Monday off of work and had a long, lovely weekend in wine country. It. Was. The. Best. Whether it's Santa Rosa, Healdsburg, Napa, Sonoma or Calistoga it's all wine country to me- if it has wine and sunshine I'll take it! On this particular weekend, in celebration of moi's bday, we started off in Santa Rosa and checked into the new Sandman Hotel to begin our weekend adventure. The Sandman was cozy and newly remodeled with touches of Palm Springs sprinkled in, and the best part is they have a pool, and it's good, really good. The Pool House and Bar had a gorgeous layout with bar and food service, and we took advantage. During our stay, we lazed about one afternoon to enjoy the 90+ degree weather with a mini meal of veggies and hummus paired with wine cocktails. The Sandman doesn't yet have a liquor license, so they made the best with what they had and mixed up some interesting and very flavorful beverages — I highly recommend the Blood Orange Margarita — of course, you are in the middle of wine country so the poolside wine list was also pretty impressive.

Thanks to The Sandman Hotel for hosting my stay.

Growing up sneakers were all the rage, there was a period when canvas sneakers with a giant rubber sole were in, and if they got dirty, it was time to buy a new pair because they just didn't have the same allure as a crisp, clean pair. Keds were one of those brands that also remind me of my childhood, easy, simple and classic. A floaty dress paired with Keds made a summer outfit so much better.
Today I'm excited to partner with this company because not only are the sneakers at an affordable price point but they are also are incredibly chic, and I feel like the cool kid on the block in these kicks. The upper material is made out of leather, ensuring my kicks won't get dirty, and the sole is made out of a thick rubber that feels like the perfect combo. I plan on wearing these out through the remainder of the summer season, well into fall and even in my upcoming travels to Europe — because as much as they have a city vibe they are comfortable yet chic enough to travel all over the globe in.

This girl is grateful for a lot of things. Another year older, another year wiser and I sure as hell feel that. There are so many things I know to be cognizant of, and even more I know to NOT be cognizant of. Yesterday a women (out of the blue) told me to cherish my husband because life is short and you never know how it will go — earlier in the year her husband passed away in a biking accident and she was just letting me and my guy know that we should cherish each other in the moment.

So here I am, older, wiser, and a bit more understanding of how it all goes. Happy birthday to me, indeed.

the left bank

{Dress | Slides | Jacket | Hat | Purse}

The Left Bank has always held a special place in my heart. It exudes charm, creativity, and flair among several other characteristics that make up it's artistic and well-visited neighborhoods. The Rive Gauche as it's also lovingly referred to is where many famous writers and artists like Picasso and Matisse called Paris home. This part of town reminds me of a past trip to Paris, where my then boyfriend proposed to me (!) and we ran all over town taking in the sights, sneaking into cafes to have a glass, and running out again to catch the sparkling lights on the Eiffel tower, as one naturally does.

There were many special moments that made that trip to Paris, but a moment that does stand out was my outfit. Of course, you probably already knew that though. :) I remember pretty vividly I was in a pair of denim skinny jeans that I would always cuff, a whiskey leather moto (the one I'm wearing above!), a black and white scarf that I vowed to artfully tie around my neck as any French woman would and a pair of large hoop earrings — that I still wear, as evidenced by my Insta-stories. It was cute and casual, but it wasn't a "I just got engaged outfit!"

If somehow I was given a do-over — the beautiful Banana Republic oxford scallop dress I'm wearing above is what I'd choose on that balmy day. Being proposed to on the Seine floating in this breezy, but sophisticated number seems to flow about right. Especially when paired with special extras like marigold satin slides, a mini basket bag and the perfect summer hat. I can see myself wearing this chic dress throughout the very end of summer and the beginning of fall with cardigans and chunky knits alike.
