Transitioning between seasons can be tough, on Instagram it's all pretty pastels, mini ruffled frocks, and sweet little basket bags -- but this is real life so let's dish on how to actually transition from Winter to Spring. It's still cold, and still raining around these parts, Spring showers, ya know? There is no way you'll actually catch me baring un-tanned, goose-bumpy skin until the weather starts cooperating, so until then let's figure this dress code out and work with what we got, am I right?

Keep those layers. While Spring is officially here, it won't feel like it for awhile so don't put those knits, coats or turtlenecks in storage just yet. I wore this coat all winter long, the lighter hue of the plaid makes it the perfect outwear layer to wear over lighter materials and a plethora of sunnier shades. Keep your layers close, and you won't be surprised when those Spring showers hit!

Bring in some lighter shades. It goes without saying, but the easiest way to bring this new season into your wardrobe is lighter and brighter colors. Sweet pastels shades are my preference, like mint, yellow, pink and periwinkle. If you don't feel like donning a five-year-old's Easter Sunday wardrobe go the texture route -- eyelet, ruffles, and light wash denim. Accessories or nail polish for the commitment-phobes are also a great way to incorporate new life into your wardrobe this season like I did with a baby blue hue.

Footwear. If it's not raining or snowing shoes allow me to dip my toes into the proverbial pool if you will. The backless mules I'm wearing above are the definition of transitional-gear, business in the front and party in the back. Also, the vivid white shade screams "I'm ready for some sunshine and rosé-filled days."

Accessorize. Basket bags, wicker totes, colorful headwraps, chunky gold earrings, and light pink gloss are on my mind this Spring.

What's on your list this Spring?
