Sézane was a brand I was never really familiar with until one Los Angeles based Julie Sariñana Instagrammed them up and down her page one fateful day while traipsing around Paris. They were a very chic French brand from what I saw, and I'll forever remember the iconic Parisian shots Jules shared in her Sézane pieces while abroad. Many years later I was reintroduced to the brand by their team while on a press trip to San Francisco. They had rented out a home in the city and had a week of visits and appointments where they invited bloggers, influencers, editors and press to peruse the newest collection and really get a feel for the brand since they are only available to view in person in Paris, London or NYC.

I spent hours on an invite from Glitter Guide at a shopping party, drinking wine, plotting what items I needed to shop and truly falling in love with the carefully crafted selection of inventory. The quintessential striped bateaus, the delicious buttery leather goods, the exotic woven straw bags -- I wanted it all! I then came back a few days later to chat one-on-one with the marketing team, Beatriz and Margeaux, and I fell even more in love with their brand ethos, and a genuine admiration for these two boss women making impressions and being truly inspirational.

Word around the block is that they are coming back this Winter for a pop-up shop so we can get our little slice of Parisian chic here in the Bay. Hoping they come sooner rather than later so I fill up on Sézane for the holidays.

Here are some of my faves from the brand at the moment. The price point is on the higher side but it's classicly French and a piece you'll have and wear for a while, plus if you snag a dress this week they throw in tights --- ooh la la! I'm definitely ordering these this week.

Well, I never thought I would be one for a casual California look. Sincerely Jules, Aimee Song, Rumi Neely all put their own spin on it and made it look so effortless and COOL if you will. I was always the more is more kinda girl --- print on print, layer until you can't layer anymore and always adding just one more accessory before I head out the door vs. taking one off. So it's more of a surprise to me than you, dear reader, that in the last 10 years I actually like this laid back California cool style more than I thought. I guess Silicon Valley finally influenced me, I never thought it possible to influence the local, but here we are. I digress, it's cool, I'm into it.

Here is my take on that effortless Cali cool, bohemian chic whatever-you-want-to-call-it-style. Throw on an easy don't-need-to-think-about-it backless dress with a statement albeit classic fedora, some white sneaks, and a ton of gold jewelry like this gorge chunky ring, we're talking more is truly more here, and viola, Cali cool accomplished. While the dress isn't the most flattering, I accidentally grabbed the wrong size, I think it could be super cute if you bought it in the right size, anyone a 0? The last one in a size 0 and on major sale, right this way!

There are not a lot of things you can do on the weekend like you used to be able to when you didn't have a 4-month-old. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, it's just a totally different life. This look was shot several months ago (facepalm!) when we were adventurous enough to visit the De Young Museum with Lucia. Back then she slept a lot more so she literally came in and out without a peep, so to speak. Granted we only saw two exhibits but for this new-ish mom, it was a lovely outing none the less.

I've always been an introvert who enjoys extrovert activities. Spending the weekend at home was never me, I love to be outside -- running outdoors, perusing a new neighborhood or doing rounds in my own with Lucia strapped to me in her baby backpack, of course. It was no wonder the week after giving birth I invited my friend Julie to an event at the Museum of Ice Cream. While it seems more natural for me to be out and about I think it could also have a lot to do with reclaiming my freedom post-Lucia. Finding my groove as a woman and as a new mother, still making time for me while caring for my family. For now, we're navigating one weekend at a time over here.

Lucia has been quite the little traveler over the last two months of her life, aka since birth, literally. She's been up and down freeways visiting family and grandparents almost every week. After the first few times of just throwing all her cute little outfits and overnight needs into a canvas tote bag, I realized maybe it would be a good idea to invest in a real diaper bag. Luckily Farfeach reached out at about the same time and asked if I was open to styling a diaper bag! Of course, I was ecstatic, Farfetch has the best curation of chic and covetable items so I was thrilled to go through their bag selection and pick out a diaper bag that was more "me" and my husband since he would be wearing it a lot too. Read more about the bag I picked and why below. Head here for the full article on FarFetch.

Why have you chosen this particular bag?
I've always said I'm not going to wear a diaper bag that looked like one and this sleek Tiba + Marl backpack certainly doesn’t look like your average ‘diaper bag’. It even looks masculine enough for my husband to wear! I also liked that it's a backpack, making it easier to travel with Lucia while carrying around her stuff.

What are the essentials that you carry for yourself and Lucia in your bag?
For Lucia, I carry diapers, wipes, a fresh onesie, blanket, muslin cloth, a bottle of milk (if we are going on a long trip) and a pacifier. I carry snacks and chapstick for myself!

Where would you and Lucia go for a fun day out?
She loves looking at bright things and the sights of the city, so we'd pack our Tiba + Marl backpack and head out for a long stroll in the city. We’d then end up at a cafe so I can grab a coffee or wine during her nap once we get to our destination and maybe even pop into an ice cream shop on the way back home!

Why would you recommend investing in a designer diaper bag?
I've always believed in quality over quantity. One good bag is way better than ten mediocre ones. Plus, your kids will probably want to use it for themselves one day.

Will you continue to use your bag when you no longer need to carry diapers?
This backpack is so sleek I will definitely be using it once Lucia is no longer a baby. I'll be carrying it to work —  laptop, notepad and even gym clothes in tow.

Is there any advice you’d give to first time parents when choosing the best changing bag?
Know what you need the bag for, as in identity what you'll use the bag for makes picking the right one easier. For instance, this Tiba + Marl one is perfect for a day trip as it fits the essentials. Also, make sure there are lots of pockets and that it's comfortable enough to tote to and from.

Big thanks to Farfetch for sponsoring this post!

My Girl and ThirdLove's 24/7 Classic Nursing Bra

Let’s chat brassieres, or in my case, nursing brassieres! If you are new around here, I’m a new mom to a beautiful baby girl, her name is Lucia and she’s perfect. For the longest time before I became pregnant, and long past giving birth, I honestly didn’t think very much about nursing bras. The bralettes I wore pre-birth have always had a special place in my heart, so I wore them for convenience and comfort, and post-birth they were super easy to get on and off when baby girl was hungry and panicking! But when ThirdLove reached out about trying their new and improved 24/7 Classic Nursing Bra, I was curious and ready to upgrade my unmentionables in the nursing department.

At first glance, the Classic Nursing Bra looked like a normal bra, but the hooks and drop down cups that make nursing a breeze are not part of your typical bra, so that is different. Otherwise, it looks and feels like your gorgeous everyday bra. I love the light plum color it comes in called Twilight (it also comes in Taupe), and the beautiful gold detailed accents make me feel less like “I-just-gave-birth” and much more put together -- even if that is just mine and Lucia’s secret. As soon as I opened the package, I could tell this bra was going to be comfortable. The Pima cotton material felt great and looked seamless under even my lightest tee.

So while it looked good and felt good, would it be easy to use for a nursing bra novice like me? Lucia and I put it to the test and it indeed lived up to the hype. It was easy to unhook one-handed and I even maintained a degree of modesty by not having to completely undress from the waist up. ThirdLove has an arsenal of maternity bras designed for easy and chic nursing. Head to their blog to read more on this newly revamped brassiere.

Big thanks to ThirdLove for sponsoring this post! All opinions are my own.
