hey little sister

If there is one person in the world I can accredit my insane love of fashion for, it would be my sister. Growing up she introduced me to the Spice Girls, where we dressed up like those Brit gals and tried our best at impersonating Scary Spice, and Ginger Spice, respectively, in our own homemade movie videos! She was the obsessive one, when it came to photographing her clothes, a la Cher Horowitz, in an effort to recreate her own version of that clothes computer program as seen in Clueless. I definitely learned a thing or two about fashion from this little lady!

Burberry S/S 2010 RTW

I know this was so last year- fashion world wise, but I recently contributed a story for San Jose Fashion Week, on Burberry's S/S 2010 RTW show last fall. The clothes were stunning, the models enviable, and the entire look ethereal!

two looks, same boot

by Carlina

I love boots, they seem to pull a look completely together, chic-ifying it so to speak. I actually have about six pairs of boots that I actually wear- short ankle, tall leather, cowboy, riding.... Whether it's spring or winter, I can always make boots work! But I do have a favorite pair, my Franco Sarto riding boots, have been with me for over four years, and I still manage to get a few, "where did you get those boots?" here and there. Surprising since our fashion economy always craves the latest and greatest in trends. I will probably continue to wear these guys until my feet no longer can fit into a seven and a half, ie. hopefully never!

The first photo was taken in Seattle, at the infamous Pike Place. It was cold as hell, (from a California girl's standpoint) hence the 'I don't wanna show my teeth, because my teeth will freeze' smile. The photo was taken by a StreetStyle photographer named Kelly June. I was pretty flattered, I have never been approached to photograph my style! You can check out the post here.

The second photo was taken at a Treasure Island Wine Fest. That was so much fun! Free flowing wine, the Blue Angels flying overhead, the San Francisco skyline, it was picturesque! The only change I would have made- a little more sun would have been nice! Great, great day overall!

morning sunshine

 by Carlina

A quick glimpse into my life... the view from my office window, pretty sweet! Perhaps one of the reasons I manage to get up so early?

a dream is a wish your heart makes

 by Carlina

Hello fashion blogger world I'm finally here! My name is Carlina, I have dabbled in fashion for several years now. I currently am an editor for BrandHabit, where I write a weekly blog about fashion, food, and drink. And more recently I have been given the opportunity to write for San Jose Fashion Week here. If you notice under my resolution for 2010, it was to start a blog! I'm happy to say it is finally happening! It has been a dream of mine to start this blog for a year and a half now, and I am glad to be sharing this space with my sister, Christina. We will be showcasing what we think are some pretty great outfit choices. Stay tuned to see what we find fashionable, fierce, and flamboyant. We like to keep our look au courant but add our own spin whether we are going to the market, or attending a swank event in SF!
